The 4th Annual Warren G. Andrews Bocce Tournament concluded on Sunday, August 8, 2010 with a new champion. Teresi Builders led by local players Anthony Pasasen, Sr. and Anthony Pasanen, Jr., together with their teammates, Michael Trivisonno and Dennis Strnad, beat the three time defending champion, Team Butto from the Warren Italian American Club, in the final match. In winning seven straight games, Teresi Builders bested a field of twenty-one teams to earn the first place prize of $1200.00.

The order of finish for the 2010 Warren G. Andrews Scholarship Tournament was as follows:

    1st Place           Teresi Builders

                                    2nd Place          Team Butto

                                    3rd Place           Kraft Builders

                                    4th Place           Mickey’s Magical Vacations

                                    5th Place           Molisani

                                    6th Place           Da Bocce Boys

Team Molisani who finished fifth was comprised of Ashtabula players Anthony Fasano, James Varckette, David Crowell, Trevor Herpy, and Michele Fasano, Sr.

The net proceeds from the tournament will be used to fund the $2000.00 scholarship that is awarded to a local scholar athlete at the Ashtabula County Touchdown Club in December. Last year’s scholarship winner, Anthony Colucci, was in attendance to open the tournament with the traditional “toss of the paulino”. Anthony Colucci will be attending Capital University where he plans to play football.

This year’s tournament was made possible by generous contributions from Great Lakes Buick and Lipton Distributing, together with many individual sponsors of the tournament.

Another winner at the tournament was Gary “Mousey” Benedict, Ashtabula’s favorite mailman, who was the winner of the individual sponsor’s raffle. Mousey won a one week stay in a luxury, beachfront condominium on Sanibel Island, Florida, which was donated by the Warren G. Andrews family.
